Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to lexamine the inner lining of your large intestine (rectum and colon).

Colonoscopy provides a direct optical examination of the entire large bowel using a lighted flexible video endoscope.

During a colonoscopy, tissue samples can be collected (biopsy) and abnormal growths (polyps) removed.

Colonoscopy is the preferred test to screen for an prevent colon cancer. It is the only option that both identifies and removes polyps during one procedure.
